There was an attempt on Monday to burgle the residence of Prof Ibrahim Gambari chief of staff of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The incident comes amid widespread insecurity in the country.
Gambari’s house is on a street next to the seat of power Aso Villa.
Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu tweeted that Gambari confirmed the attempt, adding that it was unsuccessful.
“The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has confirmed that there ‘was a foolish attempt’ to burgle his residence at 3:00am this morning but it turned out to be unsuccessful,” he wrote.
“Professor Gambari, whose house is on a street next to the Villa has assured that there is nothing to worry about from the incident.”
The incident has raised concerns among the public over the worsening insecurity which has seemingly caught up with Aso Villa.
