Yinka Odumakin’s Burial Rites Begin With Lying-In-State (Photos)

The funeral of the spokesman for socio-cultural organisation Afenifere Yinka Odumakin kicked off on Thursday as a day of tributes and service of songs at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.

His body will be lying-in-state at the Police College until 4pm.

His widow Joe Okei-Odumakin shared photos on social media from the ceremony, with heart-wrenching words.

“The part of me you took and the part of you I hold will never grow cold,” she wrote. “The ceremonies will be done, but you will be buried in my heart.

Odumakin’s body will on Friday, April 23 depart Lagos for Moro, his country home, in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.

It will be followed by a wake at Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro; while candlelight procession will hold on Friday.

Another lying-in-state will hold on Saturday morning, April 24 at Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro, followed by a funeral service at 10 am.

His remains will be then interred in a private ceremony.

Odumakin died in Lagos on Good Friday, April 2 of complications arising from COVID-19.
