Easter Celebration : 'Let's Shine The Light Of Love & Hope To Our Neighbours' - Prof. Ibe

The Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Abia State, Prof. Gregory Ibe, on Friday, urged Christians to shine the light of love and hope to their neighbours as they mark the Easter celebration.

Prof. Ibe said the celebration of Easter is a period when Christians world over remember and commemorate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In the Easter message made available to IGBERE TV, Prof Ibe said this year’s Easter is being celebrated in most places of “our beloved country Nigeria amid the challenges of banditory, kidnappings, insurgency, covid-19, economic hardship and political turmoil which had made life difficult for majority of our people.”

He added that considering these difficulties and challenges brought to us by all these problems, Christians should continue to keep faith in the Lord.

The statement reads,

“This weekend marks the celebration of Easter, a period when Christians world over remember and commemorate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It signifies a reminder of the priceless sacrifice Christ made on the cross to bring hope, salvation and peace to the world.”

“Therefore, this year’s Easter is being celebrated in most places of our beloved country Nigeria amid the challenges of banditory, kidnappings, insurgency, covid-19, economic hardship and political turmoil which had made life difficult for majority of our people.”

“Considering these difficulties and challenges brought to us by all these problems, we should continue to keep faith in the Lord. In the book of Psalm chapter 23 verse 4, the psalmist says “Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me: your rod and your staff they comfort me”. There is, therefore, no reason for us to doubt the hand of God to deliver us all from all these myraids of problems and challenges.”

“Isaiah chapter 43 verse 2, says we should have hope for surely God will be with us for when we pass through the waters and through the fires. HOPE, DELIVERANCE is on the way, ” He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness and broke away their chain” Psalm 107 Vs 14.”

“May the celebration of the Easter remind us of the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, the blood is very effective in all situations.”

“Therefore in these perilous times, i wish to call on all Abians to shine the light of love and hope to our neighbours. Having received help from above as our heritage from the God of Abia, let us likewise become agents of love by freely distributing the divine benefits of Easter to all and sundry.I am fully persuaded that with God on our side, there is nothing we cannot achieve as a people, for with him all things areand possible. So do be an encouragement to someone in this season by speaking faith-ladden words of hope, peace and love, thereby making our society a safer and better place to live in.”

“May the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ bring good tidings and a better future for us all.”
