Niger Govt Secures Release Of Passengers Abducted By Bandits

Abducted passengers of Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) have been released, the state government announced on Sunday.

Mary Noel-Berje chief press secretary to Governor Abubakar Bello announced this in a statement.

At least 18 passengers on the NSTA bus were on February 14 abducted by bandits in Kundu village near Zungeru in Yakila district of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger.

The passengers were reportedly heading to Minna from Kotangora when the incident happened.

This comes as a breakthrough after negotiations with bandits. Students and staff of Government Science College, Kagara who were abducted on February 17 are yet to be freed.
