The US lawyers representing a Nigerian jailed fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, have applied to withdraw from the case.
According to information made available to IgbereTv, the US lawyers -Gal Pissetzky and Vicki Podberesky, said Hushpuppi stopped communicating with them and has retained new lawyers to defend him in the case.
Mr. Pissetzky and Ms. Podberesky have filed a motion at the United States District court in California to withdraw from representing Mr. Abbas.
Recall that the 37 year old Nigerian, known for flaunting his opulent lifestyle on social media, was arrested in Dubai in June, 2020, by special operatives including Emerati Police officers and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) operations. The FBI said Hushpuppi financed his extravant lifestyle with proceeds of cyber crime.
He is alleged to be the leader of a Mafia behind computer intrusion, business email compromise (BEC) fraud and money laundering. They further accused him of duping his victims who are majorly in the US, of hundreds of millions of dollars.
