At least seven people have been confirmed dead in a fatal auto accident which occurred yesterday afternoon at the popular Nworie River bridge located on the Assumpta avenue, Owerri.
This unfortunate incident happened when some officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service were blaring their vehicle’s siren incessantly as they were stuck behind a crude oil truck. As a result, the harassed truck driver swerved mistakenly and landed on two mini buses before plunging into the river, killing the seven occupants of the mini buses.
It is alleged that the victims might have survived had there been immediate medical attention as they fought to live for close to two hours without visible help.
The State, at the time of this report, is still in a mournful state as most motorists are blaming the state government for not enforcing a strict regulation for the operation of heavy duty vehicles in the capital.
