Court Remands Sowore, Four Others in Kuje Prison over Crossover Protest

The Magistrate court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja has ordered the remand of the publisher of Sahara Reporters Omoyele Sowore and four others at Kuje Correctional Centre.

The court ruled on Monday that the defendants be remanded for 24 hours pending hearing of their bail application on Tuesday.

Mr Sowore was arrested by the police for leading a protest against bad governance on New Year eve in Abuja.

The police filed three-count charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others against the defendants.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
