Alleged Money Laundering: Court Acquits Former Minister of Corruption Charges

A Federal High Court in Kano on Friday discharged and acquitted former minister of foreign affairs Aminu Wali accused of receiving N950 million campaign funds from the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2015 presidential election.

Mr Wali and another person Mansur Ahmed were tried on three-counts of corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The anti-graft agency alleged they received illicit campaign funds from the PDP in 2015 contrary to Section 1 of the Money Laundering Provision Act 2011.

While delivering judgement, Justice Lewis Allagoa said the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.

He therefore discharged and acquitted the defendants.
