Unidentified assailants on Wednesday morning killed an assistant commissioner of police Egbe Edum in Calabar, Cross River State capital, police have said.
Spokesperson of Cross River Police Command Irene Ugbo confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Ugbo said the deceased, who came into the state to see his family, was killed with an axe on Murtala Mohammed Highway.
The deceased was the commander of the Police Mobile Force Squadron 73 in Magumeri, Borno.
