Police Raid Black Spots, Arrest 720 Suspects, Recover Weapons - Official

Ajah residents have been thrown into tension following an early morning raid on “black spots” by the Lagos State Police Command.

It was rumoured on social media that hoodlums clashed with the police.

But Lagos police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Sunday said the police recovered stolen items during the raid.

“No crisis in Ajah area. The command moved into the area this morning to raid some identified black spots.

“We have some suspects arrested and stolen items recovered. Similar thing was carried out in some other parts of the state. Police works continue,” he said.

It was not immediately clear if the raid was connected to the attack on a bullion van on November 12 in Ajah.

In another statement released later on Sunday, the spokesman said the police carried out simultaneous raids on areas believed to be harbouring criminals and hoodlums across the 14 area commands in the state.

He added that 720 suspects were arrested, with various weapons and substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Cocaine.
