President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the National Assembly to confirm his special assistant on social media Lauretta Onochie as a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representing Delta State.
The president also nominated Prof. Mohammed Sani (Katsina), Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti) and Seidu Ahmed (Jigawa) for confirmation as INEC commissioners.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan read Buhari’s letter of request during plenary on Tuesday.
The nomination, Buhari said, was pursuant to Paragraph 14 of part 1F of the First Schedule of the 1999 Constitution.
