The trial of suspected internet fraudster Ramon Abbas alias Hushpuppi has been adjourned till 2021.

The jury trial will resume by 9 am on May 4, 2021, according to the chambers orders of Judge Otis Wright released on September 23, Igbere TV reports Tuesday.

Hushpuppi is facing multiple wire fraud charges in California, United States which he denies.

His trial has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic which has killed more than 200,000 persons in the US.

Hushpuppi, 37, was in July first arraigned in a court in the Northern District of Illinois, Chicago where he was denied bail before the case was transferred to Los Angeles, a city in California.

The Nigerian has been in the custody of the US Marshal in a federal prison.

Hushpuppi made his first court appearance in California on August 17.

He was supposed to appear before Justice Wright on October 13 for commencement of trial.

The suspect was arrested in June in the United Arab Emirates and extradited to the US alongside his associate Olalekan Ponle popularly known as Woodberry to face allegations of money laundering running into millions of dollars.
