Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki on Friday paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to thank him for the peaceful conduct of the Edo governorship election, Igbere TV reports.
Mr Obaseki was re-elected on September 19 on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after being kicked out of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
After the meeting, the governor told State House correspondents that it would be “immoral” for him to return to the APC.
Obaseki met the president accompanied by his deputy Philip Shuaibu.
Igbere TV gathered that they were joined by their spouses and some lawmakers from the state.
Buhari’s social media aide Lauretta Onochie had earlier on Twitter said Obaseki would visit Buhari. But she did not state the time.
