Before the 2020 Edo gubernatorial election, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had boasted that Governor Obaseki will lose the election.
According to IgbereTV reports, the former National chairman said this while being interviewed on a Channels TV political program. He was asked how he felt when heard that Obaseki said he (Obaseki) will end his (Oshiomole) political career after the 2020 Edo gubernatorial election.
Oshiomole replied the interviewer:
“A ‘political lizard’ is saying that he is going to end the political relevance of a ‘political lion’ and you want me to debate? He can say it to you. Because, after all, with three credits, he claimed to go to university. So, he can claim that he is going to teach me a lesson. But his admission day is on Saturday. We will find out who is the teacher.”

But after the election, Obaseki of the PDP polled a total number of 307,955 votes to defeat Ize-Iyamu of the APC, who scored 223,619 votes. Governor Obaseki was returned elected after polling the highest number of votes in the election.
