The Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris has passed on, IgbereTV reports.
The Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, confirmed the sad incident in a statement, as he said the Emir died on Sunday at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in the Kaduna state capital after a brief illness.
The Governor describes the late Emir a rare gem, a source of wisdom, guidance, and a true father of all, praying that God Grant his soul abode in Aljanna Firdaus.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has also reacted to the report.
Atiku wrote via his social media handle, “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. My condolences to the Shehu Idris family, Zazzau Emirate Council and the government and people of Kaduna State over the loss of HRH Emir Shehu Idris.”
“He was such a towering personality whose legacies in 45 years on the throne shall remain indelible. May Allah SWT accept his soul and forgive his shortcomings,” Atiku added.
