Obesere: l Don't Have Any Issue With Kwam 1

Fuji musician Obesere says he is not currently at war with senior colleague King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall popularly known as K1 de Ultimate or KWAM 1.

Speaking during a radio magazine programme Parrot Xtra Hour on Radio anchored by Olayinka Agboola on Space FM 90.1 in Ibadan on Tuesday, Obesere said he enjoys a cordial relationship with K1 as far as he was concerned.

“The Olubadan is my father. I have a cordial relationship with him. I pray that he stays long on the throne of his fathers. Kabiyesi is my father. I got a letter to be made a chief. The Olubadan’s Palace said I should go to King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall and that if he consents to it, I would be installed. I said I could not. He was not even from Ibadan,” he said.

“So, I was happy when I was installed as the Bobagunwa of Yoruba land. It is not about Ibadan alone. It is about the whole of Yoruba land. I have a cordial relationship with the Olubadan of Ibadan land. No one dares look him in the face. I can’t do so too.

“I don’t have any issue with KWAM1. He is the Mayegun of Yoruba land. It is good, everyone must believe his own is the best. One must emulate good things. It is good for everyone to get what he deserves. No one is even above mistake that is why an Alfa will tell you to listen to God’s injunction rather than find fault with an Alfa”.

K1 had clashed with Obesere in 2018 after the latter threw a jibe at the then Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who unsuccessfully sought his party’s ticket for re-election.

On the origin of his stage name Obesere, the singer born Abass Akande said it was a nickname given to one of his band members Adeleke Adesanya.

“When I saw that he rejected this name, I took it up and everything changed for the better,” he said.

Otherwise called ‘Omo Rapala’, the Fuji singer started with Marvin Giwa record label and also featured on the defunct Sony Music. His latest album is titled Standout.
