As part of the ongoing inspection of public schools in Enugu State, preparatory to resumption of academic activities, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on Wednesday, visited the popular Ekulu Primary School, GRA, Enugu, which has been completely renovated and equipped with modern learning facilities by his administration, under the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB).
IGBERE TV reports that the governor, who was led round the newly renovated classroom blocks and other facilities by the Chairman of ENSUBEB, Chief Ikeje Asogwa and other members of the board, including the member representing Enugu North Constituency, in the State Assembly, Hon. Ibenaku Onoh and Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Onunze, expressed satisfaction with the level of infrastructural transformation in the school.
Briefing newsmen shortly before the governor’s arrival, Chief Asogwa disclosed that similar massive interventions in state-owned public schools are ongoing in phases across the 17 LGAs.
The ENSUBEB Chairman who noted that facilities at the Ekulu Primary School were hitherto in deplorable state, explained that all the thirteen (13) buildings of 66 classroom blocks in the school were completely renovated and equipped with modern learning facilities such as plastic lockers and chairs for the pupils, set of desks and chairs for the teachers, ceiling fans and marker boards, among others.
Other interventions in the school include the reconstruction of 24 toilets, 10 offices, one library, a hall, security post, the perimeter fence, and a kitchen for school feeding.
