The Hon. Minister of State, Labour & Employment, Festus Keyamo in a latest statement has reacted the reports that some states are considering only indigenes for the Special Public Works Programme aimed at employing 774,000 citizens, a thousand from each of the 774 local government areas in the country.
Keyamo in a tweet via his Twitter handle declared that anyone who is resident in any LGA in the country irrespective of tribe is qualified to take up the job.
He wrote, “We understand some States’ Selection Committees are considering only indigenes for the 774,000 jobs. That’s unacceptable. Anyone who is resident in any LGA in the country, irrespective of tribe, is qualified. It’s one country in which we all live. The NDE coordinators should note”
