BREAKING!!! FG Summons Ghana Envoy Over Demolished Nigerian High Commission

The Federal Government has summoned the Chargè d’ Affaires of the High Commission of Ghana to Nigeria, Iva Denoo, on the demolition of a residential building in the premises of the Nigerian High Commission in Accra, Ghana.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, tweeted on Monday that he held talks with Ms Denoo on the issue.

“Summoned the Chargè d’ Affaires of the High Commission of #Ghana to Nigeria, Ms Iva Denoo, to demand urgent explanation on the recent attacks on a residential building in our diplomatic premises and reinforcement of security around diplomatic premises and staff. @NigeriaGov,” he wrote.

Ghanaian authorities had since apologised for the demolition, saying the perpetrators would be brought to book.

A block of uncompleted apartments, meant for staff and visiting diplomats, on the commission’s property were demolished last Friday after a Ghanaian businessman claimed the commission encroached on his land.

It was gathered that some staff of the commission were also threatened in the process.
