The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) says it will summon several officers who were reportedly caught on camera extorting motorists.
The video of the incident was released over the weekend on social media by a man identified as Ibukun Mike.
He said the incident occurred on May 15 and named the officer directly involved as Hunpegan of Maza-Maza LASTMA office.
Mr Ibukun said he and four others were charged N50,000 each for violating traffic rules and were not given receipts for the payment.
In reaction to the video, the agency tweeted on Monday saying the officers involved would be disciplined if found culpable.
βOur attention has been drawn to the recent video making rounds about extortion from our officers. The Agency has taken note of this even as investigation has commenced. The officers involved will be summoned for subsequent disciplinary action if found guilty,β it said.
The agency urged the public to continue to report errant officers via any of its provided channels.
