COVID-19: Gregory University Scores Another First, to Conduct e-Testing for Students

The management of Gregory University (GU), Uturu, Abia State have announced plans to conduct a mid-semester e-testing exercise for its students, Igbere TV reports.

This is sequel to the successes recorded by the ongoing online lectures by the school.

A statement by the Media & Public Relations of the University, Sleek Ogbonnaya Ogwo, made available to IGBERE TV said “it is compulsory for all students to participate in the e-testing, since the exercise will be used to ascertain the level of comprehension of the subjects currently being taught, and subsequently form 20% of the statutory Continuous Assessment, which is a mandatory requirement for the evaluation of academic performance during the semester.

While stating that the examination and records unit is currently working on producing a seamless timetable for the testing scheme, Dr. Efetobor revealed that special electronic features have been embedded on the exercise by the ICT department to guarantee the integrity of the process.

In his words; “In line with the GUU policy of zero tolerance to examination fraud, our software engineers have devised combative water tight strategies and subsequently loaded the e-testing app with features that automatically foil and discourage such practice”.

He however assured that a trial version that will deploy the technique of sending demo questions to some selected students as a way of ensuring successful front end to back end transmission of data, has also been planned to proceed the actual exercise.

It will be recalled that Gregory University Uturu commenced the delivery of online lectures through the zoom digital platform at the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the closure of educational institutions nationwide.
