While some countries are still under partial lockdown and have prevented school children from resuming to schools, Israel went ahead to let Children in the middle east country return to school, IgbereTV reports.
However, barely days following the resumption of schools almost 10,000 students in Israel have now tested positive for COVID-19.
The reports disclosed that Children returned to schools in a staggered reopening about 2 weeks ago, after Israel’s new coronavirus infections hovered below 50 cases a day for several weeks.
However, at least 220 students and teachers were confirmed to have been infected in the past few days, including more than 150 from a single school in an upscale Jerusalem neighbourhood.
This latest outbreak has now pushed the country’s confirmed cases to almost 100 cases a day for the first time since early May and it is getting close to the threshold at which health officials indicated that some lockdown restrictions would be reimposed.
