IgbereTV reports that the government of Anambra State has signed the COVID-19 law in the state.
A statement made available to IgbereTV by the Secretary to Anambra State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu reads, “The government of Anambra state hereby informs Ndi Anambra that His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State has signed the state’s Covid-19 law.
Amongst other stipulations in the law, wearing of face masks is compulsory in Anambra state. Defaulters are liable to a fine of N10,000, community service or both.
Families are encouraged to bury their loved ones immediately. The guidelines and protocols on Covid-19 prevention must be strictly observed at such burial ceremonies. For example;
(1) Not more than 30 persons should be present at the burial ceremony.
(2) All should wear protective face masks
(3) Those attending should maintain physical distancing at all times
(4) Running water and soap should be provided at different points at the venue. Washing of hands with soap should be done regularly by guests for at least 20 seconds each time.
(5) Alcohol-based hand sanitizers should also be provided for the use of guests.
(6) Hand – held thermometers should be used on guests and those presenting temperature above 37.9 Centigrade should be denied access.
(7) Ndi Igwe and Presidents General of the various communities are to drive these messages home. They are to strictly monitor compliance as government will hold them responsible where it is observed that people in a particular community are flouting these Covid-19 burial guidelines.
