Lockdown: Mobile Court Shut Down Two Hotels In Kano

Two hotels have been shut down following the order of a Kano State mobile court for violating the COVID-19 lockdown rules in the state.

This consequential order was issued by a court headed by Magistrate Aminu Gabari directing that Mozida Hotel at No-Man’s-Land and Royal Tropicana Hotel on Zungeru Road be sealed off for hosting night club activities during the lockdown period.

50 people were arraigned by the police before the court.

According to the prosecution counsel, the accused persons were apprehended on the premises of the two hotels where they had indulged in social gatherings.

All 50 admitted committing the offence and the court ruled that they should each pay N20,000 as fine.

The court further ruled that in addition, the violators should observe two months community service by sweeping major streets in the Kano metropolis.

Magistrate Gabari said those who failed to pay the fine would carry out eight months community service by sweeping major streets in the state.

They are to execute the sentence during the lockdown free days.
