‘He Took The World By Storm With His Talent,’ Obaseki Mourns Majek Fashek

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has mourned reggae singer, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly called Majek Fashek.

Majek reportedly died in a New York hospital on Monday.

Saddened by the singer’s death, Mr Obaseki wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “I mourn the death of quintessential, maverick musician and Edo son, Majek Fashek.

“Fashek, who took the world by storm with his enigmatic talent, remains one of the finest cultural icons of his age and would be remembered for his disarming craft and skill.”

Born in Benin City, Edo State, Majek is best known for his 1988 album, Prisoner of Conscience, which has the multiple award-winning single, ‘Send Down the Rain’.
