JUST IN: Obaseki Meets Buhari, Presents Guber Form Amid Edo Crisis (Photos)

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met with the embattled Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Igbere TV reports that Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed this via his Twitter handle.

According to him: “President Muhammadu Buhari meets with Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki this afternoon, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.”

On Sunday, eight All Progressives Congress (APC) governors met with National Leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Lagos to canvass support for Obaseki’s re-election.

Obaseki has been engaged in a political tussle with his predecessor and godfather, Adams Oshiomhole, who is also the National Chairman of the party.

Today, Governor Obaseki presented his nomination form, seeking re-election on the APC platform to President Buhari.

He told State House correspondents after the meeting that even though Buhari is a father to all, it will be wrong to assume or take things for granted, “so I have to formally inform him.”

The visit is coming ahead of the Edo APC governorship primary election, which has been scheduled for 22nd June. Main election holds Sept. 19.

Oshiomhole is said to favour a recent decampee and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for the APC ticket.
