COVID-19 : Propaganda In This Trying Time Is Cancerous

I was curious to know what the proclivity of the few propagandists was after they heard from Mr. Friday Ibeh (the first COVID-19 index case in Ebonyi), confirming that he was saved from near death.

It is appropriate and sensible that we appreciate what we have and the efforts being put in place by the Governor to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Ebonyi, as everything is not politics and there is time for everything.

Mr. Ibeh has since returned to his family members after being taken care of at the treatment center and discharged. When newsmen interviewed him, I heard him clearly saying that he almost lost his life but God saved him through the help of the COVID-19 taskforce team in Ebonyi State that was put to work by the Governor, Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi.

Gov. Umahi activated all strict measures to ensure that not even a case is allowed to enter the state, he took several arduous decisions like the ban of motorcycles, total shutdown of the entry and exit points of the state, construction of the isolation and treatment center, leading a team for sensitization and awareness creation in Banks, Markets, Shops, etc. but he was seen as being too hard on the people.

Political propaganda in trying time is cancerous, not healthy, and should be discouraged as everyone is focused on survival and progress.

COVID-19 is real but not a death sentence. We should do well to obey all the set down rules and policies against the spread.
