10 Chinese Arrested For Illegal Mining In Osun

Officials of the Amotekun Corps and Joint Task Force (JTF) have arrested 10 Chinese nationals and a Ghanaian for illegal mining in Osun State.

Director-General of Amotekun Corps in Osun, Amitolu Shittu, stated this on Tuesday.

He said they were arrested on Monday during a raid on mining sites in some communities in Atakumosa west Local Government Area of the state.

Residents of the area who noticed the activities of the illegal miners were said to have tipped off the security operatives.

“The success recorded is as a result of the resolve of Governor Oyetola to rid the state of economic saboteurs,” Mr Shittu said.

Osun government had on May 4 announced the arrest of 27 persons for illegal mining, out of which 17 were Chinese.
