IgbereTV reports that Governor Willie Obiano has commissioned the new Otuocha regional water supply scheme.
The project which will service three communities in Anambra East including Aguleri, Umueri and Umuoba Anam was jointly executed by the European Union and the state government, sources water from the Omambala river and has the capacity to treat ten million liters of water daily.
From the Omambala river, the water is pumped to the Water tank in Otuocha, from where it is reticulated.
Governor Obiano revealed that the target is to take water to all parts of the local government, calling on them to help government by taking ownership of the project, to protect it.
On January 24th 2020, when Governor Obiano inspected the project, he gave assurances that the project will become operations in April of 2020.
Present at the ceremony were the Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, Commissioner for works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, traditional rulers of the three communities, among others.
