The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has released seven quick notes about School Feeding Programmes around the globe from the World Food Programme to help provide context and clarity around the Home Grown School Feeding Programme

According to the ministry via its twitter handle, “do you know that because of the Covid-19 pandemic 368m children are missing out on free meals at school globally, including Nigeria? This has serious consequences for growth and nutrition.

Do you know that schools have been shut down for months in 192 countries across the world because of the #COVID__19 pandemic with students out of school and missing free meals?

Do you know that with schools shut down and #COVID__19 taking a health, economic, educational and humanitarian toll, 31 countries have evolved government based solutions to fight hunger among the primary school population

Do you know that 7 countries are feeding school children during this Covid-19 pandemic by doing cash-based transfers to school children’s families?

Do you know that 17 countries across the world are deploying Take Home Rations as a means of keeping school children fed during this #COVID__19 pandemic and that includes #Nigeria?

Do you know that in Africa, 3 countries are giving out Take Home Rations and the countries are Liberia, South Africa and Nigeria?”
