The first flight carrying Nigerians evacuated from the United Kingdom over the coronavirus has arrived Lagos.

Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, revealed this on Friday in response to an inquirer on Twitter.

She said the passengers brought into the country in a British Airways aircraft would be quarantined for 14 days in Abuja.

β€œFirst evacuation from the UK has landed Lagos. The passengers will be proceeding to Abuja where they will be on 14 day compulsory isolation,” Mrs Dabiri-Erewa wrote.

The Federal Government on Thursday successfully evacuated the first batch of Nigerians stuck abroad amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A total of 256 Nigerians arrived in Lagos from Dubai on an Emirates Airline flight despite the delay caused by a woman who gave birth soon after take-off.
