The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Monday (today) arraign a former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki, and three others before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The commission’s spokesman, Tony Orilade, said in a statement that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria and others would be arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo on a 16-count charge of fraud-related offences.

“The EFCC will today, Monday, May 4, 2020, arraign the former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN over multi-million fraud,” the statement read.

“He will be arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High court sitting in Abuja on a 16-count charge.”

Turaki was minister from 2013 to 2015. He also served as the Supervising Minister of Labour from 2014 to 2015.

“Others to be arraigned along with the former minister on a 16-count charge are Sampson Okpetu (who served as his Special Assistant), Samtee Essentials Limited and Pasco Investment Limited (all found out to be Okpetu’s companies),” the EFCC said.

Turaki was a senior member of the legal team of former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, which challenged the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the last presidential poll.
