Former president of the United States, Barack Obama has criticized Donald Trump over his response to the coronavirus crisis on Wednesday.
Obama took to his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, to launch the attack on Trump for having no ‘coherent national plan’ to address the outbreak.
Igbere TV reports that Obama’s outburst comes as the U.S White House is preparing to pass a $484 billion interim coronavirus bill on Thursday after it passed the Senate Wednesday.
Several Democrats have also bashed the legislation, claiming the bill doesn’t go far enough.
‘While we continue to wait for a coherent national plan to navigate this pandemic, states like Massachusetts are beginning to adopt their own public health plans to combat this virus––before it’s too late,’ Obama wrote.
Obama, however, commended Massachusetts governor, Charlie Baker for his response to the pandemic.
The former president praised the governor after launched an aggressive contact tracing program that aims to identify and isolate people who may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus.
The state was able to increase the number of tests administered from just 41 on March 9 to more than eight thousand by April 17.
Recall that the ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a novel infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, which originated from Wuhan, China — spread to the United States in January 2020.
Igbere TV learnt that cases have occurred in all fifty U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and all inhabited U.S. territories except American Samoa.
As of April 21, the U.S. death rate was 129 per million population and 10th highest in relation to other countries reporting.
