Video of Official Removing PPE After Kyari's Burial Misleading - Presidency

The Nigerian Presidency has described as misleading, the viral video of an official of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) dumping his Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the roadside after the burial of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

Personal assistant to President Buhari on new Media, Bashir Ahmad, made the claim in a tweet via his official handle.

According to Ahmad, the PPE used and dumped on the road by the official was later picked by a dedicated NCDC staff who burnt them; adding that the environment was also disinfected.

“The video of an NCDC official dumping his PPE is misleading. True, some officials removed their PPEs at the cemetery, but a dedicated staff went around, picked all and put them in a casket and then used a chemical to burn them. They also disinfected the environment, immediately.”

Meanwhile, following the burial of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has evacuated the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) dumped by an attendee at the Gudu cemetery, Abuja.

Acting Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat of the FCTA, Mohammed Kawu, made this in a statement on Saturday.

Kawu also said that the man in question and others who participated in the burial but were not properly kitted have been identified and are being isolated.

He said that necessary tests would be conducted on all of them to determine their level of exposure and ensure they do not infect other people.
