Nigerian law maker in the House of Representative, Akin Alabi in a statement has called on state governments to refund part of personal income tax to the tax payers in the state.
Akin Alabi noted that if the refund is made, it will make people who don’t pay their taxes know the importance.
He said, “When people do not pay personal income tax to the states they reside in, they ask what the state is doing for them. This is the time for state governors to show there are advantages to paying personal income tax. Refund a part of the tax they have been paying for years.”
“This is the time for state governors to reward tax payers and encourage people to pay tax in future. Refund half of the personal income tax they paid in 2018. Not 2019 because that hadn’t been concluded before Covid19 struck.”
