BREAKING!!! Court Grants Bail To Caverton Pilots

A Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt has granted bail to two pilots with Caverton Helicopters, Samuel Ugorji and Samuel Buhari, accused of contravening the executive order of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers to check the spread of coronavirus in the state.

The court also on Tuesday granted bail to 10 passengers flown into the state by the pilots.

Chief Magistrate D. D. Ihua-Maduenyi granted the pilots bail, saying they must present a surety who must be a management staff of Caverton Helicopters.

The court also ruled that the surety must own a landed property in Port Harcourt and ensure the two pilots attend trial.

The surety will also sign a bail bond of N1 million each for the two pilots.

The court ruled that the passengers should present two sureties who must be management staff of Caverton Helicopters.

The sureties are to sign a bail bond of N500, 000 for each of the passengers.

They will also sign an undertaking to bring the accused persons to trial.

Trial was adjourned to May 19.

The accused persons were all arrested at the Air Force Base in Port Harcourt after the police received intelligence on their flight which occurred despite a ban on flights.
