Senator Aliyu Wamakko has lost his younger brother, Buba Wamakko, at age 66.
The deceased was the district head of Gedawa in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
He died early Monday at the Uthmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto after a protracted illness.
He has been buried according to Islamic rites.
The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Wamakko, Liman Wamakko, at the residence of the deceased in Wamakko town.
A former deputy governor and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Sokoto, was in attendance among other party members, government officials, retired civil servants, family members, friends, relatives and sympathisers.
The late Wamakko was turbanned as district head of Gedawa by the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, on April 7, 2014.
He is survived by a wife, eight children, several grand and great grandchildren.
