COVID-19: Media Associations Lauds Gov. Sanwo-Olu For Swift Response To Deadly Pandemic

Lagos Online Media Publishers (LASOMP) and Coalition of Online Publishers in West Africa (COPUWA), has commended Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his swift response since the state recorded the first index case of coronavirus pandemic which is fast becoming ”a third world war”.

The two leading media associations in the country made the commendation in a communique signed by the President of the two groups Mr. Sola Adeyemo, on Thursday.

In the communique, Mr. Adeyemo thanked the state Chief Executive for showing good leadership skills and the needed alacrity in curbing the rise of the deadly pandemic in Africa’s fifth largest economy.

Adeyemo, while highlighting some of the key decisions and policy directions of the state in checkmating the pandemic in the state, said; “as the President of both media groups, our members are unanimous in their resolve to express gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for rising to the occasion like a worthy and forward-thinking leader who’s alive to his responsibilities.”

The two groups with a membership strength of well over ninety online journalists and media personalities in Nigeria and West Africa also used the medium to express their readiness to join hands with the state government in sensitizing Lagosians about the deadly bug and various measures being deployed by the state government to ensure her citizens are well-protected and cared for whilst it lasts.

Finally, the two groups thanked the state government for reaching out to the most vulnerable in the state by giving them the necessary palliatives to support them in this trying period.

The groups however urged the Governor to step it up a bit so it can reach a larger percentage of Lagosians who are mostly daily income earners but who cannot go out during this lock-down to earn a decent living.
