The Federal government of Nigeria in a bid to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic have revealed that it has started the immediate cash transfer to poorest households in the country.
The minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Sadiya Farouk,
made this disclosure on Monday during a press briefing by the presidential task force on the disease in Abuja.
Farouk said the ministry has commenced advance payment of conditional cash transfer to the poorest households in the country, as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, during his national address on March 29.
According to her, the vulnerable group will also be expanded, to consider more persons during the infection period.
Igbere TV reports that Nigeria has recorded 131 Coronavirus cases in 10 states across the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The country also recorded its second death from the disease on Monday.
