The Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun has directed that all interstate and international borders be closed, effective from 12 Midnight tomorrow, Sunday, 29th March, 2020.
Gov. Abiodun stressed that the directive affects the border Ogun state shares with the Republic of Benin and “translates to a ban on inbound and outbound movements altogether, excludes vehicles conveying personnel offering essential services in health, security and food.”
This restriction is a step further to reduce the importation of the COVID-19 into the State from neighbouring states and country, including all states in the southwest, especially Lagos which is understandably the epicentre of the pandemic in the country, being a host of major air & sea ports.
“I urge everyone to understand that during this time of the virus outbreak, stringent measures have to be taken, as we continue to review them regularly as the situation, which is expected to get better, requires,” the Governor added.
