Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has said there is no need for panic buying over coronavirus pandemic.
Sanwo-Olu said that only essential things must be bought following the closure of gatherings in the city.
He made this known on Friday while giving updates on the coronavirus outbreak in the state.
“It is not out of place for people not to have essential things at home, there is no need for us to start panic buying,” he said.
According to him, “We have not locked down the city, we have not said people cannot go to work, we have not said people cannot move from one place to the other.
“We have not said that people cannot communicate, what we have said is that people should observe social distancing as much as possible and should desist from the assemblage of people that is more than a certain number that has been prescribed.”
Gov Sanwo-Olu also advised Lagosians to avoid overcrowded buses.
