Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has visited the scene of the explosion at Abule-Ado in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of the state with his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.
The explosion began at 9 am on Sunday and lasted several hours.
At the scene of the incident on Monday, Mr Sanwo-Olu said the state was raising a N2 billion relief fund for victims of the explosion.
Hundreds of persons have been displaced after more than 50 houses were razed.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), on Sunday, said at least 17 bodies were recovered, while 25 persons were receiving treatment.
