OPINION: The Weak as Water Missiles of Abia Onyike: A Resemblance Of Lamentation Of A Frustrated Man

After going through a diatribe from Abia Onyike who inadvertently became a cog on a wheel of progress and development currently being witnessed in Ebonyi State, I could not help but bring the attention of the security agencies to his diatribe in other for the ostracised Edda born strange bedfellow to be arrested for mental examination.

In _The Nation_ interview on Monday, 2nd March, 2020, currently making rounds on social media, the dismissed quondam Information helmsman under the heading “unless Umahi changes, APC will take over Ebonyi”, accused Governor David Umahi of being nepotistic and grandstanding.

Onyike, whose questionable character waned his political career in the largest political party in Africa, the PDP, sought shelter in the APC.

Since his doublespeak lifestyle was discovered, he was relegated which hastened his exit of the party, PDP after attempting to be Senator in 2019 election, an effort that was massively rejected by his constituents.

Even now he is in APC, he lacks the spirit of a true party man -he does not believe his new party, APC can defeat Umahi in any political contest, an experiment that failed on arrival in the just concluded election, where Umahi trounced the APC candidate, Sen Ogbu Orji.

His uncertainty with political elasticity of APC became glaring when quipped “unless Umahi, changes….. APC will takeover…….”. In the reverse, APC at worst case scenario is not a reliable alternative.

Rather than concentrating on his new found abode of deceivers, Onyike took to mainstream media pitting Ebonyians against the other.
Little did he know Governor Umahi’s towering political achievements has continued to receive nationwide accolades from coterie of well-wishers.

Bluechip organisations and Ivy league institution -University of Nigeria Nsukka and other are enamored by Umahi’s political sagacity.
Worthy of mention, BusinessDay Newspaper Best Governor’s of the Year Award on the 24th of November, 2019.

On the 12th of October last year, the prestigious UNN called on Umahi to propound approaches to post oil economy in the context of emerging economy like Ebonyi State.

The school, it was reported, has since commercialised his research findings.
Even the noetic journalist that anchored the interview was awed by the vernomy of Onyike when he bewildered ” _But the general impression today is that Ebonyi State under Umahi is one of the best in the Southeast region in terms of dividends of democracy. This is because of the reported infrastructural leap in the area; there are good roads, fly-over bridges, etc_”.

My happiness is hinged on the unassailable fact that nationwide, if not the whole world, lovers of good governance have repeatedly chorused “Umahi, Umahi and Umahi”.
“Umahi” is becoming a development mantra. Can anyone say, Ebonyi State does not have good roads? Even when one is prejudiced, the answer is in the negative!

Admittedly, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria guarantees freedom of speech with a caveat, Onyike cannot be setting one ethnic nationality against the other under the pretext of “freedom” of speech and go scot-free.

Onyike can be calling on the youths to take up arms against a constitutionally elected government and we pretend not see it. Such character is defeatist.

He who throws mud, should look at his hand. Why is he crying foul if his hands are clean?
For failing on a civic responsibility of tax payment, he has mobilised resistant mobs against the state.
These fellows, following the dictates of their master, Onyike has vowed never to pay taxes to the state government.

Why won’t Abia Onyike be charged for economic sabotage and be committed to correctional facility?

I therefore call on all lovers of good governance to rise and reject Onyike’s crocodile wailing, while the security agencies should arrest, try him in court and make him face the reward for wickedness.

Ebonyi State can not be toppled by the likes of Abia Onyike who costs nothing in the electoral market. He knows his political height when he was asked if he has ambition for 2023. He answered “if I have the opportunity”. Such opportunity eludes his kind.
