Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and 2019 Presidential candidate, Kingsley Moghalu compared the difference between Nigeria and America style of politics, IgbereTV reports.
Moghalu in his statement on Sunday revealed that the American politics is about ideas while politics in Nigeria is about tribe.
He said, “America’s 2020 presidential election and Democratic Party primaries highlight the contradictions of capitalism. Should Mike Bloomberg exist? Yes! Should there be a hand up for the poor and the middle class? Yes too. Capitalism is the worst economic system, except for all the rest!”
“In Africa, we need to understand and apply the philosophical foundations of the wealth or poverty of nations. We need to understand how capitalism creates wealth, but its limitations as well, and then apply to economic policy.Instead, we have surface, ad Hoc approaches to policy.”
Moghalu added that ”In America, politics is about ideas, ideology,policy. In Nigeria it’s about your tribe, whether you have done your local government or state govt’s job in your village, or “empowered” the poor with wheelbarrows, and which group “controls” power in Abuja while the poor get poorer.”
