Charly Boy Reacts To Okada Ban In Lagos (Photos)

Maverick entertainer, Charly Boy, has expressed support for the ban placed by Lagos State Government on commercial motorcyclists, popularly called Okada riders, and tricycles better known as Keke.

The ban took effect from February 1 in six Local Government Areas and nine Local Council Development Areas in the state.

Charly Boy said in a lengthy post on Facebook late Tuesday that he supports the ban because there have allegedly been an influx of Shiites posing as Okada riders to plot attacks.

He said he spoke with a Hausa man in Akomora who disclosed the information to him.

“For una information, I am in total support of this Okada ban based on my discussion with one of my Hausa chairman in Akomora two decades ago when I just meet again after so many years. He gave me more insight into the activities of these Okada riders,” he said.

Charly Boy said the man told him that majority of the riders in Lekki, Lagos were “Shiite members and other Muslim radicals” and that they could only be identified by the unconventional way they pray.

The 68-year-old expressed support for Amotekun, a new security outfit launched by governors in the south west, adding that he hopes other governors in the south west and south east will follow in the ban on Okada riders.

Charly Boy for several years fought for the interest of Okada riders and also donated motorcycles for commercial use.
