Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have begun expressing their excitement on social media after receiving the new N33,000 allowance.
NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Wednesday announced that the Federal Government had increased the monthly allowance of corps members to N33,000.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2019 signed into law an increase in the new minimum wage and NYSC has approved the monthly allowance of Corps members to N33,000.
Corps members were previously paid N19,800 as monthly allowance.
Ibrahim said the approval was in line with the new national minimum wage.
The development was also confirmed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, who gave no further details on the matter.
Meanwhile, joyous corps members who received the N33,000 new allowance confirmed the payment via text messages.
