Manchester United fans have rejected a purported move to bring either of former Nigeria international, Odion Ighalo, or Algeria international, Islam Slimani, to Old Trafford.
According to reports on Friday, the club are considering either of them for loan move following Marcus Rashford’s injury.
Ighalo, a former Watford player, is with Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua and has two years left on his contract while Slimani is on loan at Monaco from Leicester.
Ighalo scored 17 goals in 55 Premier League appearances for the Hornets before securing a move to Chinese League One in 2017.
The club’s supporters on Twitter do not appear pleased with the proposed move.
Reacting, a user @Pastor_CVB said; “You sold Lukaku unprovoked and suddenly want to sign Odion Ighalo or Islam Slimani on loan (both of whom are not up to Lukaku’s level🤦♂️ Small club mentality 🤣”
Another @Maniche4 said; “Sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter and failed to negotiate a deal for the estranged Mauro Icardi
- Failed to sign a forward to placate the loss of Lukaku.
- Purportedly negotiating for the loan signing of Odion Ighalo and Islam Slimani.
- These jokes write themselves”
“When you hear United are targeting Slimani and Ighalo 👀,” @Snail1M said.
Displeased by the report, @oolumide_ said; “hear Man Utd been linked with Odion Ighalo and Islam Slimani… This can’t happen!!! This shouldn’t be happening!!! This is happening!!!”
