UPDATE!!! 3 Dead, 11 Trucks, 7 Houses Razed In Abule Egba Inferno

Three persons have been killed after a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline exploded on Sunday at Ile Epo area of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said.

The incident, believed to have been caused by vandals, sent residents of Abule Egba, Ile Epo and Ekoro Road into panic.

Acting Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, said NNPC had been contacted to shut down the pipelines.

β€œWe have contacted NNPC to shut down the pipelines and so far, we have been able to recover two bodies,” Mr Farinloye said.

Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, also confirmed that two adults died in the inferno. He added that 11 trucks laden with 40-foot containers as well as seven houses were razed by the fire.

A similar incident occurred on December 5, 2019 after some suspected pipeline vandals disrupted the Atlas Cove-Mosinmi Pipeline, part of the System 2B Pipeline at Peace Estate, Varies, in Idimu area of Lagos.
