Obasanjo speaks on his son's failed marriage

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a latest statement spoke about his son, Olujuwon Obasanjo’s marriage to Tope Adebutu, daughter to Chief Adebutu Kessington better known as Baba Ijebu.

Olujuwon and Tope got married in 2017 but the marriage crashed one year after.

However, the former President in his latest statement on Saturday 18th January disclosed the failed marriage had nothing to do with his friendship with Baba Ijebu.

Obasanjo made this known at the 45th President’s party of Abeokuta Sports Club, during which the club’s first honorary membership was conferred on Adebutu.

The former President in his statement with Punch said their children got married out of their own volition.

He said, “The honoree of today has rendered marvelous services to Egbaland. The Park Inn, which is the old Gateway Hotel, would have still remained in derelict if not for the services, commitment of the honoree.

“One thing you never said about him and I wonder why the citation left that out, you know not too long ago my son and your daughter on their own decided to get married but what happened to their marriage is between them, not between us.
