Police Arrest Woman Who Naked, Peppered And Chained Her Grandchildren Over Food (Photos)

The Police in Rivers State have arrested a cruel 52-year-old grandmother for allegedly stripping her two grandchildren naked, beating and bathing them with pepper.

According to reports gathered by Igbere TV, the woman popularly called by the name, Mama Vera was arrested for assaulting her grandchildren for eating ‘garri’ with sugar as a meal without her consent.

It was further gathered that the woman happens to be a regular abuser who regularly maltreats her grandchildren ever since they started living with her after the demise of their mother three years ago.

The sad incident happened at Mgbuoba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The victims (named withheld), 8-year-old and 7-year-old respectively could not further their school after their mother’s demise and the grandmother allegedly locked them inside the room for four days without food sometimes.

While reporting the incident to the police, neighbours who also live in Mgbuoba community, Rivers state said that they heard the cries of the children, went to the apartment and discovered the door was locked.

We forced the door opened and discovered that the two children are naked and tied with an electric wire. Hot pepper robbed all over their bodies. The younger kid was already weak as at the time we broke the door, they narrated.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the two naked girls were untied, revitalised and they later open up that they were punished by their grandmother because they collected garri and sugar to drink due to hunger without her consent.

Aa lawyer, Precious Johnmark, who also witnessed the incident has called on the Rivers State Police Command and the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, to follow up the case and ensure the prosecution of Mama Vera for allegedly violating the rights of the girls.
